The BBC Radio 2 presenter, whose wife, Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly, has recently been away, revealed that he had been left feeling “sore” and “lonely”
Vernon Kay recently opened up about a moment of loneliness he experienced during a night out, describing himself as a “sad, lonely bloke” while his wife, Tess Daly of Strictly Come Dancing fame, was away.
Tess was spotted in sunny Dubai, where she was working on a photoshoot for her swimwear brand Naia Beach, and then in the Dancing With The Stars audience in Ireland to support pal Brian Dowling and his husband, Arthur Gourounlian, a judge on the show.
On his BBC Radio 2 programme, Vernon shared how he felt “sore and husky in the throat” after attending the BRIT Awards and some after-parties. He recounted how he found himself wandering alone after 2am, eating a mixed kebab and sitting opposite a piano shop with a £35,000 piano on display.
Reflecting on the evening, Vernon said: “I sat on a bench on me own opposite a piano shop, and they had a piano in the window that was, I think it was 35 grand. And I’m eating me kebab, sat opposite, thinking, ‘Wow, imagine owning a piano that’s 35 grand and you’re able to play it, as kebab gravy fell on the floor between me legs.”
He continued his anecdote by saying, “You know what I mean? I was like, ‘This is a great night’. I’m eating me kebab, imagining that I’m sat on the stool underneath a 30 grand plus piano, playing away to friends and family. Whereas, in reality, I was just that sad, lonely bloke contemplating what was going on at quarter past three in the morning on the Edgware Road.”
Vernon Kay wasn’t the only star who had a blast at the BRITs. Charli XCX, fresh from her five BRIT Award victories, was seen leaving Claridge’s Hotel with her fiance, George Daniel of The 1975, according to the Mirror, reports Lancs Live.
Jess Glynne and Alex Scott also made an appearance, spotted hand-in-hand as they departed the Warner Music BRITs after-party, with Jess playfully sticking her tongue out at photographers before hopping into a taxi. EastEnders legend Danny Dyer was seen making an exit with his daughters Dani and Sunny Jo in tow.
The night celebrated several other artists as well, with Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, RAYE, JADE, and Sam Fender all taking home awards. Vernon took to his official Facebook page to share his thoughts on the eventful evening.
His post read: “Ahh the Brits was a blast! I don’t take many pics but @snappersass was on hand to snap @dannyhowarddj and myself having a wonderful time…Cheers! (beer emoji) sore head this AM!”.
