Hawks’ Jalen Johnson exits game vs. Raptors due to shoulder injury

Ascending star Jalen Johnson exited early into the second quarter and has since been ruled out by the team due to a left shoulder injury.
The incident occurred when Johnson went to contest a shot attempt by Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and ended up committing a foul. The Hawks forward seemed to be in immediate pain following the play and exited to the locker room area.
Johnson has been a meaningful contributor for Atlanta all year, averaging 19.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.6 steals and a block through 35 appearances. He leads the Hawks in minutes this season and is second in scoring behind only Trae Young.
The 23-year-old exited Thursday’s contest after 10:47 of playing time, logging three points, one rebound, one assist, one steal and two turnovers.
Atlanta is currently 22-21, seventh in the East and losers of two in a row entering the game against Toronto.
