Canada’s Gabriel Diallo eliminated in second round of Hong Kong Open

Canada’s Gabriel Diallo fell in the second round of the Hong Kong Open.

Second-seeded Lorenzo Musetti of Italy eliminated Diallo 6-4, 6-3 Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals.

Diallo earned a spot in the ATP Tour 250 event by winning a pair of qualifying matches.

The 23-year-old from Montreal rallied for a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena during the opening round.

Diallo, who is No. 87 in the world rankings, made strides in 2024 with a run to the third round at the U.S. Open followed by a runner-up result at the Almaty Open.
