Best cycling routes around Oxfordshire with beautiful views

There are lots of ways to plan your journey, whether an experienced or less frequent cyclist.
Earlier this week, route planners at navigation app Komoot revealed their top five cycling routes in Oxfordshire.
Experts said: “Cycling in Oxfordshire is one of the most enjoyable ways to explore more of this part of South East England.
“So you can find your perfect bike ride, we’ve reviewed our full collection of cycling routes in the region to deliver the best.”
Top 5 cycling routes in Oxfordshire
For a sightseeing loop – Bridge of Sighs, Botanic Gardens and Wheatley Windmill
The 15-mile route takes just over one-hour-and-a-half to complete.
Kamoot says: “Easy bike ride that is great for any fitness level.
“Mostly paved surfaces and suitable for all skill levels.”
The UV-index reading is high for this weekend though, so don’t forget sunscreen and consider bringing sunglasses.
Bicester – River Cherwell wild swimming loop
Taking one hour and 45 minutes, this 18-mile route starts at Pigeon Lock and goes through to Bletchingdon Park.

Boar Hill and Moreton Lane loop from Abingdon
Taking under three hours, this 26-mile route is advised for expert cyclists only.
Kamoot says: “You need a good level of fitness required. You may need to push your bike for some segments of this route.
“The starting point of the route is right next to a parking lot.”
The ride goes from Sandy Lane to Boars Hill on to Swinford Toll Bridge and down Moreton Lane.
Chiltern Hills loop from Oxford
This route has “cycling highlights” pinned as the River Thames path and St Mary’s Church in Fawley, Bucks.
It’s classed as an easy bike ride with a relative level of fitness required, as it takes just over five hours in total to complete.
